HISTORY IN REVIEW : Karachi; 18th March, 1997:
During those days it was already partly to mostly cloudy for over a week in the city with drizzle occurred on 13th and 14th March also but by the late night of 17th March clouds became heavy. It started raining light to moderate late night after 2 am (i.e. on 18th March) and it rained very heavily around 3 am for 10-15 minutes with some lightning.
Later it continued light shower or drizzling till early morning then some drizzle during 9 to 10 am also.
It rained 22 mm in Nazimabad during night and morning where according to PMD reports maximum of 25 mm rain was recorded, by later afternoon sky cleared.It was the heaviest rain ‘during the month March’ till the record was broken by ‘March 2007’ rains in Karachi.It rained in many parts of interior Sindh on that day also, 12 mm was in Hyderabad.
