EARTH HOUR: Switch Off The Lights for 60 Minutes


Earth Hour is the worldwide biggest voluntary movement and celebration of our earth. Contribution in Earth Hour by switching off extra lights during the hour symbolizes a commitment to change beyond the hour. Earth Hour is a reminder of how we can together create a difference and make every effort for a healthier planet. Pakistan will observe Earth Hour for the year 2015 on Saturday, 

March 28 at 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm by joining the 161 countries around the world.  You reflect under the stars or celebrate by candlelight, whatever you prefer to do, just turn off your lights and do your part to protect your planet. Utilize your power to change climate change and make a difference. Turn off your lights just for 60 minutes on Saturday, March 28 from 8:30 pm till 9:30 pm and show your commitment for a better future.

In Pakistan, various ceremonies regarding to Earth Hour, lights off activities as well as candle lighting ceremonies at famous landmarks and at National & provincial assemblies across country are held on.

Pakistan will celebrate the world’s largest symbolic environmental movements, Earth Hour 2015, today i.e. Saturday evening, with a candles lighting ceremony at Sindh Assembly.
Pakistan will join more or less 172 countries, and about 7,000 cities in celebrating the moment by switching off unnecessary or extra lights. In Pakistan, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Quetta, Peshawar, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad with other cities have pledged to conserve the country’s environment and natural treasures.

This is the 6th year WWF-Pakistan will be organizing the Earth Hour celebrations in Pakistan. In Pakistan the Earth Hour campaign in 2015 is sponsored by these companies or organizations, PEL, Tetra Pack Qarshi Industries, and K-Electric. A candle lighting ceremony will be held at Sindh Assembly, where the Minister of Environment and Parliamentary Affairs of Sindh Mr.Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro will be the chief guest. Other prominent personalities participating in the event will be Director General of Sindh Environment Protection Agency Mr.Naeem Ahmed Mughal, the Speaker of Sindh Assembly Mr.Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, and the Deputy Speaker of Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza.
