1 - The highest temperature ever recorded in Antarctica is 14.6 °Celsius or 59 °Fahrenheit, recorded on 5-Jan-1974.

2 - The most rainfall ever recorded in 24 hours is 182.5 centimeters or 71.9 inches in Foc-Foc, La Réunion, during tropical cyclone Denise on 8-Jan-1966.

3 - A large amount of rainfall constantly recorded in a year is 25.4 meters or 1000 inches in Cherrapunji, a city of India.

4 - The highest snowfall ever recorded in a one year period was 31.1 meters or 1224 inches in Mount Rainier, Washington State, United States, between 19-Feb-1971 and 18-Feb-1972.

5 - The fastest wind speed ever recorded is 484±32 kilometers per hour or 301±20 meter per hour which was a 3 second gust recorded by a Doppler on Wheels (DOW) radar unit in Oklahoma City on 3-May-1999.

6 - The air located around a lightning bolt is heated to around 30,000oC. This is 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun.

7 - Clouds can be categorized into a number of different types. The types are known as cumulus, stratus and cirrus.

8 - The Earth experiences millions of lightning storms each year, they are incredible discharges of electricity from the atmosphere that can reach temperatures close to 54,000°Fahrenheit or 30,000°Celsius and speeds of 60,000 meter per second or 130,000 meter per hour.

9 - The USA has more tornadoes as compared to any other country in the world, averaging about 1200 each year. This is because of its distinctive geography which forms an area in central USA called “Tornado Alley” which is frequently hit by tornadoes.

10 - Tropical cyclones, which refer to as typhoons or hurricanes, rough seas, driving rain, some parts of low atmospheric pressure and feature strong winds. They often form in tropical areas of the Earth and can do great damage to populated areas. Examples of this include the 1970 Bhola cyclone, Typhoon Nina which hit China in 1975 and in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina which caused huge destruction and loss of life when it hit southern parts of the U.S.A.
