Pakistan Monsoon Precipitation & Weather Outlook (07 to 14 Aug-2017)

Overview: Monsoon Currents are currently very less over Pakistan alongside with it, Western Disturbance with weak intensity is producing Rain over Upper Pakistan. Weak Currents of Monsoon are likely to grip Upper Pakistan by tomorrow into 9
th August while another Moderate to Strong Westerly Wave could engulf Upper & Central Parts of Pakistan by Friday.
During next 72 Hours, Rains accompanied with Thunderstorms are expected to witness in Parts of Northwestern Punjab & KPK. Some/few Parts of Western KPK, Gilgit Batistan & Fata could get Rainfall along with Thunderstorm. Different Parts of Kashmir are likely to witness Heavy Rains while other areas could get Light to Moderate Rains. Heavy Rainfall is likely over Isolated to Scattered Areas of Twins (Rawalpindi & Islamabad) and Murree while Different areas of Upper KPK could also witness Heavy Rains. Few Parts of Southwestern KPK & Northern Baluchistan could also get Rainfall.


Karachi is likely to get meaningful Rains from the day after tomorrow that could prolong for 2 – 4 Days while Lower and Southeast Sindh may get Drizzle/Light Rain during that period. Western Disturbance & Arabian Moisture is the main reason behind these expected Rains in Karachi.
From Late Wednesday into Thursday, we can expect some widespread Rain in KPK (including Peshawar & Kohat), Northern Pakistan (including Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Murree) and Kashmir. Some activities could also witness in Northeastern Punjab and Central Punjab.
From Friday, another Westerly Wave could approach Western, Central and Upper areas of the Country & under its influence we can expect Widespread Thunderstorm-Rain in KPK, Central & Upper Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, Fata and Kashmir. Still this spell needs monitoring and the detailed forecast will be posted timely. Arabian Moisture would help that system a lot.
